Terms of Service / Firefly cinemas

We put films in fields.
That's basically the whole idea.

Firefly is a pop-up drive-in cinema, based in Wellington, touring Aotearoa since 2013. No permanent building, no popcorn empire — just a screen, a paddock, and whoever turns up.

1. Agreement

By accessing fireflycinemas.co.nz or purchasing tickets, vouchers or memberships from Firefly Cinemas Ltd, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Tickets

All ticket sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable except where required by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Firefly reserves the right to refuse admission for reasons including — but not limited to — intoxication, disruptive behaviour, or breach of venue rules.

3. Season passes & memberships

Season passes are billed monthly in advance and may be cancelled at any time through your account. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Passes are personal and may not be shared.

4. Gift vouchers

Firefly gift vouchers are redeemable at any Firefly Cinemas venue or online, are valid for 24 months from date of issue, and cannot be exchanged for cash.

5. Age restrictions

We enforce New Zealand film classifications set by the Office of Film and Literature Classification. Photo ID may be requested for age-restricted screenings. R-rated screenings require government-issued ID.

6. Behaviour & venue rules

For everyone’s enjoyment, we ask that mobile phones are silenced during screenings, outside food and drink are not brought into auditoriums, and that all guests treat our staff with respect.

7. Intellectual property

Recording, filming or photographing any part of a screening is strictly prohibited and may be a criminal offence under the Copyright Act 1994. All content on this website is owned by or licensed to Firefly Cinemas Ltd.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Firefly’s total liability arising out of your use of our services is limited to the amount you paid for the affected ticket or product. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page. Your continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
