Host an event / Fundraising nights

We put films in fields.
That's basically the whole idea.

Firefly is a pop-up drive-in cinema, based in Wellington, touring Aotearoa since 2013. No permanent building, no popcorn empire — just a screen, a paddock, and whoever turns up.

1. Pick a date & a film

Tell us what you're raising for. We'll suggest films your crowd will actually turn up for — family classics, sing-alongs, Kiwi favourites.

2. We handle the site

Screen, FM transmitter, generators, licensing, insurance, ushers, portaloos. You don't need a venue — we can bring the drive-in to your school field or car park.

3. You bring the crowd

You promote it through your network — parents, whānau, members, mailing list. We give you posters, socials tiles and a dedicated ticket page.

4. Cash lands the next week

60% of every ticket sold through your page goes back to your cause. We invoice, reconcile, and pay out within 7 working days.

What's included

Everything, honestly.

No hidden hire fees, no last-minute surcharges. If you’ve ever tried to run one of these yourself, you’ll know what a relief that is.

The revenue split

Tickets are typically $25 per car (up to 5 people). You keep 60%. We keep 40% to cover the film, the crew and the kit. A packed night of 150 cars = about $2,250 straight to your cause. No merchandise to shift, no door-to-door selling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Firefly nights run rain or shine. If MetService issues a severe weather warning, we’ll reschedule and email you within 24 hours of the original date with new options.

Tickets are sold per car bay, not per person. One bay covers everyone in your vehicle (within seat-belt limits). Walk-ins and motorbikes have a separate ticket type.

Yes — BYO snacks are welcome. We just ask that alcohol stays sealed until you’re parked and that all rubbish leaves with you. Vendors will be on-site for hot food.

We broadcast a low-power FM signal directly to your car stereo. Your booking email contains the exact frequency for your night.
